Surroundings

Jadranovo, the Kvarner bay and the bridge to Krk.

The villa stands on a hillside above a small coastal village between Crikvenica and Rijeka. Pebble coves sit below it, the island of Krk lies straight ahead, and the whole northern Adriatic is within an easy drive.

The water

Jadranovo's coves — Havišće among them — are a short drive or a long walk down the hill: clear water, pebbles and pine shade, with a coastal path linking one bay to the next.

Eating nearby

Konobas in the village serve what the boats bring in, just over a kilometre away. A private chef can also cook at the villa, and local wines are sold here in hand-painted ceramic bottles.

Rijeka and Opatija

Both are 25 to 30 minutes away: Rijeka for markets, galleries and ferries, Opatija for its belle-époque seafront promenade and gardens.

Days out

Cross the Krk bridge for the island's beaches and the town of Vrbnik, or turn inland for the Gorski Kotar forests and Plitvice further on. Cycling trails start close to the house.
